Sabato Sancto is a single-channel video filmed in an abandoned school in Montpellier.
Shot as a continuous plan-séquence, the work follows Moises Portella as they inhabit the deserted site through sculptural poses performed on and around school furniture.
Desks, chairs, and platforms become supports, constraints, and pedestals for a body that appears at once monumental and precarious.
Referring to Holy Saturday, the suspended time between death and resurrection, the work displaces liturgical waiting into a disused pedagogical space.
The sound design fades between Francisco Corselli’s baroque score and delayed, edited bird sounds recorded on site, producing an uncanny passage between sacred composition and environmental trace.
