Chantal Pontbriand is a curator, critic, and strategic advisor whose work has shaped contemporary art discourse internationally since the 1970s. Founder and director of PARACHUTE (1975–2007), she continues to develop curatorial and research initiatives through Pontbriand W.O.R.K.S. and SPHERE(S).

Presented in Presence without Presence at the Centre chorégraphique national de Montpellier, 1641-1991 inserts used paint pots into the neo-Romanesque architecture of the site.
Fixed onto existing points of anchorage, the elements operate as markers, interruptions, and minor parasitic ornaments, reactivating the wall as a surface of memory, projection, and trace.
